Consider the Source

Digital games and apps have the potential to change lives, when the people who are making them prioritize the needs of kids. But finding the best choices for your family can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. Consider the source with a few key questions:

  • Why did they start their company? Are they committed to delivering impact?
  • What is their development process? Do they include kids, parents, and educators?
  • Who are they, and who are their partners? Do they reflect and represent the needs of the audiences they serve?

Groups such as the National Association for Media Literacy Education provide key questions to help families actively consider their media experiences.
