Our Purpose

In 2012 we met at the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop, where we researched how “new” media could transform the delivery of impactful learning experiences just like Sesame Street did for children’s television.

Later we became parents, navigated pandemic remote learning; and drawing on our 20+ years at PBS Kids and Sesame Workshop, advised digital leaders on creating trusted and easy to access learning environments. Most importantly we listened closely to our fellow parents and media makers, as they struggled to meet kids’ urgent and evolving learning needs.

Bottom line- there were no easy to find solutions.

So together we founded a company to meet those needs. At a time when families deserve support more than ever, we are on a mission to create a more impactful and supportive community for learning games, apps, and tools that kids love and parents trust.

The Problem

Today’s app stores just aren’t built with parents and kids in mind. Over half of parents say finding the right tools for their children feels like searching for a needle in a haystack—and it’s no wonder. With 450,000 “educational” apps out there, it’s overwhelming and stressful to sort through it all. Parents told us they wished for:

  • An age-appropriate kids space they can trust
  • Easy to find and buy expert-reviewed apps
  • More transparent and flexible payment options
  • A way to support other families who don’t have limited resources

Meanwhile, the best kid-focused apps—often made by passionate small teams—are getting lost in the shuffle, lacking the reach and support they need to thrive.

Our Solution

Locket by Games & Learning is the only digital learning community that makes it easy for families to discover high-quality, web-based apps, games, and tools that help kids learn and thrive.

  • We find the best of the best—only evidence-based, kid-tested, ad-free experiences that parents can trust and kids actually enjoy.
  • With a simple dashboard, parents stay in control of subscriptions and can see exactly what their kids are using.
  • Every purchase helps provide free access for families in need.
  • We support a vibrant community of mission-driven creators so they can focus on what matters: helping kids learn and grow.
